November Activities

The Youth Ministry Calendar for the month of November is now available to pick up from the youth group bulletin board. A couple of things to take notice of:
The ladies of our church are having a retreat at Mountain View during the first weekend of the month. I'm sure it would be beneficial for some of you female upperclassmen to join them... and get your moms to go too! Since you're out of school on Wednesday the 11th, we'll have a special Food Group meeting at Pizza Inn that day. Just a time to eat and hang out together. Details about some of the other activities will be made clear as it gets closer to time. As always, you can get specific details about all of our activities by clicking on the "upcoming events" links on the left-hand side of this blog. Make plans to join us for whatever events you can, and remember that your friends are ALWAYS welcome! Happy Turkey Day!

Halo-Ween Party

All 9th - 12th graders are invited to join us for a fun-filled evening on Friday, October 30th. There will be plenty of food and games for everyone including a "just for fun" 2v2 Halo 3 tournament. So grab a partner, sharpen up your sharpshooting skills, and join us from 6:00 to 11:00 PM. The only requirement to get into the party is a bag of Halloween candy which we'll use the following day at our Trunk-or-Treat. Halloween costumes are not mandatory, but you might want to bring an extra Xbox360 controller or two if you've got them. See you there!

October Activites

Sorry there was a slight delay in getting this month's calendar out to you. Switching office computers with our preacher set me back a little because I've had to learn a new publishing program. But enough excuses... the October youth calendar is now available! Our Junior High Mystery Trip has come and gone, but there are still lots of great things happening with the youth group this month. A representative from Lubbock Christian University will be here on Wednesday night to answer any questions our upperclassmen or parents might have about the school. He might have prizes too so brush up on your LCU trivia. Make plans to join us at our last 5th Quarters of this school year, and be on the lookout for details on how you can help at our annual Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Carnival. Get involved and encourage your friends to join you!

Junior High Mystery Trip

It is just about time for our fun-filled MYSTERY TRIP! I am really excited about it! Of course, I do have a slight advantage seeing as how I actually KNOW where we're going and what we'll be doing. Aren't surprises fun! Don't worry... I'm pretty positive that you're going to have an awesome time. Those of you who signed up to go should have received an email with some information about the weekend. Let me know if you didn't get it and I'll be sure you get a copy of the info. We will be leaving on Friday, October 2nd, from the church parking lot at 4:00 PM and returning home on Sunday, October 4th, between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. The cost of $45 will cover your hotel room as well as all the fun activities we have planned. You will also need to bring enough money to cover 4 meals and any pit stop money for the road. You will also need to have a signed parent permission form before you will be allowed on the bus. Any guessed to where we're going?

Youth Group Video Announcements - September

I thought it was about time we try something different with our announcements... so every now and then I'll put together one of these video announcements. Let me know if this is an effective way of communicating our events and activities. Maybe I'll even get some of you teens to help me out with future episodes. Let me know if you're interested.

Wednesday Night Time Change!

Beginning on Wednesday, September 16th, we will have a new time for our midweek youth group meeting. We will start off by offering a FREE MEAL at 5:30 PM in the Family Center. After everyone eats we will head to class at 6:15 PM. Hopefully this will give everyone more time to get their homework done before going to bed... or just give us more time to hang out. Coinciding with the new start time, we'll begin a new miniseries study called "Hooked" during youth group time. I encourage all of you to make plans to be there and invite your friends to join you. So remember... if you come at the usual time of 7:00 PM you'll have already missed it. Come at 5:30 to eat or 6:15 for class and don't be late!
